About the event

Join Rep. Anna V. Eskamani and People Power for Florida on Saturday, February 24th as we host an in-person Political Organizing Bootcamp at UNF focused on how to build political power on your college campus and organize your peers for social change. Our team will be going over topics ranging from how to organize on a college campus, talk about voting, become a strong communicator, and how to prepare to organize around the 2024 Florida State legislative session. We're also planning on hosting a guest panel during the event where students will have the opportunity to hear directly from local elected officials, longtime organizers, and community leaders. Confirmed panelists are Rep. Angie Nixon, Councilman Jimmy Peluso, Michael Sampson from AFSCME, Joshua Hicks, and Christian Gonzalez-Obregoso from FL Rising.      Our goal is to create the next generation of community leaders that will drive our state and our campus in a progressive direction. This is a great opportunity for any college student that wants to get more involved in politics and become a leader on their campus as well as learn about how political campaigns and political organizing works. This is a FREE full day training on Saturday, February 24th from 10am-5pm; breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided. All current and incoming students from UNF, FSCJ, and any local high schoolers across the Jacksonville area who want to fight for a progressive future are invited to join us! You can sign up here. The last day to sign-up is February 22nd! All sign-ups after that date are tentative depending on our capacity. If you need transportation to get to UNF please let us know and we can arrange for a rideshare or a shuttle.
